London Drift at Meet at 11 Bedford Square, London for an afternoon's walking

March 15, 2018 from 1pm to 6pm
A creative walking workshop in Central London, exploring the sites of astonishing fossil discoveries: from extinct elephants and hippos in Trafalgar Square, to reindeer and bison in South Kensington. We will playfully uncover the vestiges of former Thames terrace deposits, laid down during successive cycles of warm and cold climate, which can still be detected beneath two millennia of urbanization, together with the stone tools of London’s Palaeolithic occupants, the last people to see these…See More

November 30, 2017 from 10am to 3pm
Embracing disparate disciplinary perspectives and methods, this workshop sets out to explore how scientists, geographers and artists might work together. Part of an ongoing research project by Dr. David Overend (Drama, Theatre & Dance) and Prof. Danielle Schreve (Geography), Performing Wild Geographies imagines repopulating the British countryside with past inhabitants; animals that have not lived here for several thousand years. The workshop, focussed on collaborative performance-making…See More

The Elephant in the Hedge

9 February 2017I have been spending a lot of time on my own recently, taking a regular journey by air between my home in Glasgow and my workplace in Surrey. This hasn’t been entirely unpleasant. Suspended miles above the landscape, or responding to emails in the reassuring universality of airport lounges, it has…See More

October 10, 2015 to October 12, 2015
CauseWay returns to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum after a hugely successful run in 2014. Part play and part guided tour, Causeway tells the story of two suffragettes who cycled from Glasgow to Alloway in 1914 intent on blowing up Burns cottage. Weaving the words of Robert Burns with performance, storytelling and live music, the performance questions the links between the work of Burns and the suffragettes' cause. This is a piece of walked theatre; performances will take place in and…See More
